The house is situated in the mountain village of Liboreiro 3 kms above the pretty riverside town of Gois with views of the beautiful countryside, forests and distant mountain villages. The wood burning stove provides hot water and full central heating, and the solar panel provides hot water during the summer months. The double doors lead in to the main bedroom which has a large fitted wardrobe and a fitted shelved storage cupboard, a small dressing room with wardrobe, and an ensuite shower room with heated towel rail.

From the lounge through the sliding doors there is a large terrace with wonderful views looking on to the forest and into the distant mountains and villages. You can hear the cry of the eagle and watch him soar above.  It is spectacular from here at night to see the lights of the mountain villages, windmills and of course the beautiful clear skies to see the stars.

There is an external staircase down to the garden and a side path leading to the wood stores and the covered carport.

The landscaped walled garden is laid out mainly to shrubs and perennials with graveled paths leading down to the different areas. There is a lawn and space for growing vegetables as well as mature olive trees and grape vines. There are plenty of watering stations around the garden with water available from a well with pump, water butts, and mountain spring as well as the mains water. The gazebo offers a shady place for that cup of coffee or glass of wine.

This is a quiet village with an international assortment of residents and holiday home owners. There are walks from the house in all directions along forest paths to enjoy the flora and panoramic views of the forests, mountains and far off villages.

The ancient town of Gois, only 2 miles away, has a supermarket, banks, post office and several shops and coffee bars as well as restaurants, The riverside is a joy to walk along with several river beaches and waterside café/bars. There is a small market on a Tuesday down by the river where you can buy local produce and cheeses etc. and it is a good centre for touring the area and experiencing the real Portugal. There are numerous river beaches with safe swimming areas, BBQ’s and picnic spots some with canoes for hire. Other local activities include fishing, horse riding, cycling and walking.

Within easy motoring there is the ancient university city of Coimbra, the extensive Roman encampment at Conimbriga, the world heritage site of Piodao, the palace of Bucaco which is now a fine Hotel and Restaurant set in beautiful parkland through which you may roam at leisure. A little further afield but still within easy motoring is Figueira de Foz which is Central Portugal’s finest seaside resort with miles of silver sand.
