A Casa do Açor – PD0456
Property in central Portugal
A Casa do Açor
A Casa do Açor is a sympathetically restored village property, one brought up- to-date with care and consideration; work, not just retaining many original features, but which also, genuinely, preserves the character of the house. To be sold fully furnished, it is fitted plainly and decorated simply – white walls, neutral tiles, wooden floors and ceilings – so, quickly, and with very little effort, will come to reflect the personality of the new owner. Everything needed is there; it would be possible to move in on completion.
A lovely, substantial, building – it has a habitable space of 184m2 over three floors – currently laid out to 4 double bedrooms, the largest of which contains beautiful artisan furniture, all of which is included in the asking price. There is a comfortable living/dining area; a sitting room; a good sized, half tiled kitchen fitted with cupboards, work surfaces, white goods and a wood burning stove; there’s certainly room for a breakfast table if you wanted one. The bathroom is roomy, tiled and well kitted out. Last, but not least, is the very useful front porch, big enough for boots and coats, dog leads, toys, and all the other paraphernalia of family, or holiday, life – and its light enough to shelter your sensitive plants over the winter.
The house stands in 200m2 of land, there are fruit trees and terraces, olives and an elegant Fig, a distinguished old tree which has witnessed many changes in its time. There is also a stone building, too nice to call a barn, tho, at the moment, that’s what it is, of just over 34m2, complete with the traditional bread oven. Adjacent is another small building intended for either kennels or housing chickens. There is the possibility of aquiring more stone buildings for renovation near the house. If required a further area of rustic land, close to, but not adjoining, is available for purchase.
The location is a hillside village, roughly half way between the market towns of Gois and Arganil – to describe the views as stunning is an understatement, they truly do need to be seen to be believed, photographs don’t do them justice. The community is peaceful but busy – the area is peppered with little villages, local café/bars – some which will serve a home cooked lunch, River Beaches, there’s an outdoor swimming pool, good restaurants.
Services: mains water and electricity, fossa (septic tank); bottled gas
