The house is traditional schist stone, rendered. It is in need of some tender loving renovation. The land is comprised of three terraces, the house being on two levels. There are two main rooms and one small room on the upper level with space for a mezzanine style bedroom in one of the main rooms. Three storage rooms make up the lower level. The roof is inclined and has traditional tiles. Heating is with a wood stove. Wood is readily available. There are two terraces on the east side of the house, one of which is well shaded by grape vines, the other is private enough to sunbathe. Mains water is connected. Sewage has been applied for. Permissions granted to work on renovation of house and garage/studio.
Twenty-two fruit and nut trees were planted in fall of 2018 and there are some productive organic vegetable gardens. There are also about seven varieties of well-established grapes, most for wine but some excellent for eating.
At present we are not connected to mains electricity by choice. Power comes from a newly installed solar system which includes 500 Ah, 24 volt lead-acid batteries, 1000 watts of panels, a Victron Energy 3K inverter-charger, a charge controller, and a battery protection switch. This system can be sold with the house at additional cost. The village of Cortecega is quite small. August is a busy time when people return to their old homes. The house is above the village, facing southwest with stunning mountain views. It is set back above the main road which passes over above most of the village. The beautiful Ceira River runs in the valley below.
The village of Gois is just 4km away with all amenities
