Casa da Fonte do Soito

Property in central Portugal
Casa da Fonte do Soito
Location! Location! Location! That’s what they say, and that’s what this house, Casa da Fonte, the House of the Fountain, has for sure; a superb location; but there is much, much more to this sunny house than that …………………………..
Sat on the rise of a hill, with extensive views across the valley below, is a spacious 2 storey Villa which has been painstakingly restored and lovingly decorated; sympathetic work of the kind that brings an older building up to date without losing the original feel.
Only a few moments drive from the pretty town of Gois, where, once again, the modern and the traditional blend, this 4 bedroom detached residence, complete with an assortment of outbuildings, really is in a perfect position.
The kitchen, and its adjacent Breakfast Room, are fully fitted with a good selection of quality wooden cupboards and work surfaces. The floors are ceramic tiled and lighting is provided by modern adjustable ceiling spots. The wood burning stove set into the fireplace not only gives a cosy feel in the cooler months, but also provides heating for rooms on the upper floor.
It is a house of space and sunshine. On the lower level, 2 bright, comfortable bedrooms, each with built in wardrobes and large windows, are served by a generous sized bathroom, with tub, laid out in immaculate marble furniture.
That same sunny theme runs through the whole building – the living space has wooden floors and is divided into separate areas for relaxing and dining, a clever combination of large windows and glass block walls allowing plenty of natural light into the room.
A flight of wooden stairs leads from the dining area to the 1st floor, a lounge/office where a single wall of dark tiles make a superb contrast to the whitewash and subtle use of embedded ceiling spotlights help to create a very special space.
Again, there are more large windows, but this time there’s a glass door which gives access to the outside carport.
The 2nd bathroom, with its purpose built shower and a laundry room are also on this level.
The insulated attic with its stained beams and pale walls is where you will find the 3rd and 4th bedrooms. Both have built in storage space and are furnished, one with single beds, the other with a double. Both are light and airy.
The property is walled around and outside are a tiled terrace, a balcony and other hidden spaces, there are potted plants, a lemon tree and those beautiful open views.
A must for the hot days of summer, it has an outdoor kitchen with barbecue, food preparation area and all the other necessities of al fresco cooking – opposite that an are currently used for storage, and what no country house should be without, its own chicken coop, tho, as of yet, there are no hens in residence.
The nearby town of Gois has a weekly open air market, shopping and a selection of bars, cafes and restaurants. Other facilities include schools, a Family Doctor Unit, banks,a petrol station and a gym. A river beach, with bar, is about 500 meters away.
The delightful city of Coimbra is just over 30 minutes by car, though there is a regular daily bus service; Porto and Lisbon with their airports are both within easy driving distance, as is the coast.
This carefully restored and well located property is priced to sell, so furniture is not included in the listed figure, however, if required, so you can just move in, it is available with separate negotiation.
