Quinta do Pasto – PD0462

Property in central Portugal
Quinta do Pasto
Set in open countryside, running to just over 8000m2 (two acres),
Its a usefully-positioned little farm, one currently laid down to grass, but with a host of other possible uses. Well situated at the edge of a village, almost halfway between the busy market towns of Arganil and Tabua, the land is flat, has straightforward vehicle access and is secure. For shade there is tree cover, predominantly well-established olives, but also fruit, some mature, some more recently planted. Most importantly, there is a well, plus a borehole, and, a reservoir which holds (approx.) 6000 litres – no matter what your future intentions, that good water supply is a vital element to any planning.
This is a useful working smallholding, there is hard standing, a hay barn and stabling; at the moment no house, but a stone building of 25m2 could be converted to a living space – it’s perfectly positioned for a solar set up but close enough to mains services should that be a consideration. The pasture presently supports a small herd of goats and sheep – the grazing is good, so, if your preference was horses, you have the space.
Alternatively the property is ideal for horticultural cultivation – level, fertile land with good irrigation and easy field access, storage buildings already on site, prospect of a dwelling if you want it – or maybe it would make a mixed, organic setup? All you might need, everything from shops to vets to agricultural merchants are around 20 minutes in either direction – as are those markets.
And when you want a break there are cafes, bars, restaurants, river beaches and some of the most beautiful scenery, all near- by, as is a sociable rural community.
This place has a lot going for it – it’s peaceful but not isolated, it’s a well maintained, manageable area with productive soil; it’s well located and it has water. It’s got to be worth a look.
