There is a busy little café/bar with mini-mart, there are various events over the summer, cultural, motor, sporting, culinary – and almost certainly a party, a local festa, somewhere close by each weekend. The popular market town of Gois, with full services – shops, banks, petrol station and some very good places to eat, is twenty five minutes away – the whole area is well worth exploring, on 4 wheels, 2 wheels or by foot, there’s a lot going on if you want it, outdoor pursuits, excellent restaurants, important historical sites – but undisturbed peace if you don’t.
Alternatively, if you want a base from which to tour, and not just by car, it’s close to the N2, one of the best motorbike routes in Portugal – this place could work equally well. Access to the major road networks is good – it’s just over 45 minutes from Coimbra and less than 3 hours’ drive from the international airports at both Porto and Lisbon; the Atlantic Coast, known for its superb beaches and first class surfing can be reached in just over an hour.
This sale is a well thought out project with the heavy, remedial work already done, a project now ready to take on the personality of the new owner. Relocation? Downsizing? Holiday Home? Whatever you have in mind it might be what you’re after, it’s certainly worth a look.
