Casa Manuel de Oliveira – PD0446
Casa Manuel de Oliveira
On the edge of a mountain village, set a little back from the road, is a mature house in need of full renovation. Standing in a good parcel of ground it’s a sizeable building, the covered area running to 120m2, giving a habitable capacity of 200m2. It’s an interesting place, one that retains most of its original features and so would lend itself perfectly to restoring in a traditional style; cosy rooms with warm wood, exposed stone and rich colours would look superb. Alternatively, something more current would work equally well – open spaces, tiled floors, pale walls; wide windows to let in the sunlight, and to frame those striking views. Either way, for full time relocation it would make a substantial family home – certainly large enough to incorporate an independent apartment if desired – somewhere for the grown up kids, for older parents – or as a holiday let for a second income perhaps? Outside, the 250 m2 patch is a gardener’s delight, room enough to indulge your horticultural day dreams – flowers and veg, olives and vines, with a patio and a pool?
Should holiday accommodation be a consideration, the region is actively promoting rural tourism. The hillside location, about 25 minutes from the pretty town of Gois, is welcoming and peaceful. Life is slower, but, should you want it, there’s plenty going on. There are café/ bars and local markets, River Beaches and some very good restaurants, all within a short drive – most summer weekends there’ll be festa nearby. It’s ideal for outdoor pursuits, walking, biking, canoeing or fishing on the beautiful Ceira River, there are events of all kinds, motor, sporting, musical, cultural going on throughout the year. Access to the major road networks is good, meaning comfortable driving times to both the major airports of Porto and Lisbon and to the Atlantic coast – renowned for its beaches and surfing.
Whatever your plans, if you are seeking a restoration project, this property is well-priced, beautifully located and has genuine investment potential. It’s worth viewing.
