Quinta Vale do Carro – PD0450

Property in central Portugal
Quinta da Colina – PD0450
A Quinta da Colina
A place up in the hills with no near neighbours, though perhaps someone close enough to wave to from a distance. Enough land to produce fruit and vegetables, to grow some trees to give shade and firewood – and somewhere to graze a few animals. Somewhere there is natural spring water for general use and irrigation. And maybe, a neglected old ruin to restore, to turn back to what it was long ago, when someone last lived there. A small village to walk to would be nice, for a quiet drink and a chat, perhaps to ask for some local advice. And, possibly, but not too hard to get to, somewhere a little more lively, with a market, some café bars, somewhere to eat, some shops, a river beach or two.
No, it’s not wishful thinking. Want to come and see it?
This property is a small quinta with two stone ruins and almost 2 hectares (around 5 acres) of land, located in the hills, near the village of Coja. It has good access from a quiet tarmacked road, has an unmade track, terracing and mixed tree cover; most importantly, there is natural spring water.
The County town of Arganil, which has all the things you need for daily life, and some of the things you may want, is around 20 minutes’ drive. Access to the major road networks is excellent, Coimbra is 45 minutes away, Porto about an hour and a half – a similar journey time to the Atlantic Coast.
This little place offers the opportunity for an eco-friendly, off grid lifestyle, as secluded as you want it to be, but somewhere there is a real buzz, – music, crafts, festivals, both traditional and otherwise, lots going on in the district, all year round. Near enough to be there when you want them, and far enough away for when you don’t.
Maybe it’s just what you’re searching for? You won’t know until you look.
